Lets brainstorm root morphology

Lets use this space to identify the morphological grooves and concavities we find on specific teeth in the mouth. Why is it important to recognise these?

  1. Enamel extensions commonly noted on bu furcations of md molars
Enamel Pearls commonly noted on furcations of mx molars
Both are a risk to periodontal infections due a pathway formed for bacteria to move towards the furcation causing periosntal destructions.

Di-Pa Developmental grooves of mx lat inc. Provides an environment for bacteria to adhere once again causing perio destruction

Root fractures can be caused by failed endo or heavy occ trauma. Perio destruction occurs due to bacteria entering from necrotic nerve (endo)

Grooves, concavities and surfaces of teeth can harbour bacteria, if not addressed can contribute to the initiation or progression of periodontal disease.
